Dirk's the photographer

Lisa does everything else...

Dirk and I (Lisa) live, work and play in the South end of Lake Tahoe.  We don't confine our work and play to the Lake Tahoe area but it's a great place to start.  We show Dirk's work at Art Shows and Festivals around the western United States.  Since this is our livelihood, we also sell his photography at the Art Shows and Festivals, in our Studio-Gallery in Lake Tahoe and here on our website.

We set up at Art Festivals and Shows, usually outdoors. This is our booth at the La Quinta Arts Festival.

We love to travel...

the photography is secondary.

Images from around the world

Over the years we've been able to travel quite a bit.  We've been able to experience other cultures, see different amazing landscapes and living environments, meet gracious and interesting people and of course eat and drink delicious foods and beverages.  We love it.

Dirk's portfolio therefore includes photographs from many countries.

Patterns, textures, abstracts in nature...

all tell a story or evoke a poem.

Fine Art Photography

When Dirk hits the shutter, it's because he was moved to express an emotion that a particular scene brought to him.  Not just documenting the scene but interpreting the moment.  Perhaps creating an art piece.  Rather than using a paintbrush or a chisel, his tool is a camera.

We prefer not to use the term Fine Art Photography because we'd rather let the viewer decide for themselves.  However for search engine purposes and to help people categorize Dirk's work it's useful.

Dirk does the complete process...

From taking the photograph to stretching the piece on wooden frames.

Printing by the photographer

To ensure the quality of his photographs, Dirk personally does the printing of his images.  He prints on both photographic paper and art canvas using archival inks.  Dirk coats the canvas photographs with a UV protectant and water resistant layer, then stretches the photographic canvas image around a frame of traditional wood stretcher bars.
